This is my interpretation of the cour'souvra, a magical artifact from the Wheel of Time fantasy series by Robert Jordan. The book's physical description was minimal, describing the cour'souvra only as a "small cage of gold wire and blood-red crystal" (A Crown of Swords , Chapter 24.)

In the world of The Wheel of Time, the term cour'souvra is translated to mean "mindtrap," as the cour'souvra is used to capture a person's soul. The cage is designed to appear beautiful yet sinister, while the crystal is of a shape not found in nature, reflecting its unnatural purpose.

Earlier Render

Before beginning college, I had done my first cour'souvra model. Using Meshwork and Strata 3D 3, I created an adequate representation of my design. However, the modeling method I used resulted in a low-polygon cage that appeared faceted when close-up. Using skills learned in my ID Computing II class at Georgia Tech, I recreated the cour'souvra, keeping the same design but greatly increasing the quality of the representation. The newly redone cour'souvra was also included in my final project for ID Computing II.
